Report: 100 People Died Due to Vaccinable Diseases in Past Decade
During the past 10 years, 100 people in Estonia have died after catching diseases which could have been prevented by a vaccination.
Most of the deaths have been caused by influenza and Estonia has the smallest percentage of the population of any EU nation vaccinated against the disease – only 1.3 percent of the population last year, uudised.err.ee reported on Tuesday.
More popular are vaccinations against tick-borne encephalitis. Last year double the number of people, compared to influenza, were vaccinated against tick-borne encephalitis. In Estonia 114 people contracted the disease last year.
