The health risk related to job stress is second only to musculoskeletal complaints throughout the European Union. Job-related stress has been linked to heart disease, depression and anxiety and can elevate many other health risks.
University of Tartu family medicine professor and GP Ruth Kalda said job stress is highest in fields that require higher education and requiring mental exertion or working in the service sector with constant interaction with other people as well as on night shift work.
