Drug package leaflets soon in Russian and English
The government announced on Friday that the translation of package information leaflets into Russian would be made obligatory. So far, distributors often refused to do this, claiming that it would make higher prices necessary.
According to Minister of Health and Labour Jevgeni Ossinovski (SDE), the government also decided on a subsidy. 400,000 euros would be allocated to the Agency of Medicines for the translation of information leaflets of over-the-counter drugs into Russian and English, the minister said.
“We have a lot of patients whose knowledge of Estonian isn’t sufficient to understand difficult medical texts. This increases the danger of drug abuse,” Ossinovski added.
