Estonia reaffirmed its continued support of the implementation of Moldova's Association Agreement with the EU at political consultations held in Tallinn on Friday.

Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs political director Paul Teesalu acknowledged the reforms carried out in Moldova and encouraged the country to remain on course, observing that work on the integration had continued since September 2014. At the meeting, the Estonian and Moldovan parties discussed continuing specific joint activities.

According to Teesalu, Moldova has been a priority development aid target country for Estonia since 2006 and the two countries are cooperating in the healthcare sector, strengthening democratic institutions and supporting civil society and rural development.

"In all the aforementioned areas we pay attention to introducing and putting into practice IT and e-governance solutions which support developments in said priority sectors," said the Foreign Ministry representative.

The priorities of Estonia's upcoming presidency of the EU and the forthcoming Eastern Partnership summit, as well as the situation in the region and the global situation in general, were likewise discussed at Friday's meeting.

The Moldovan delegation to the talks in Tallinn was led by Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and European Integration Daniela Morari.

The most recent previous political consultations between the two countries took place in 2015.
