President of the Riigikogu meets vice president of European Parliament
President of the Riigikogu Eiki Nestor (SDE) and Vice President of the European Parliament Ulrike Lunacek talked about the future of Europe as well as the impact of Brexit and the refugee crisis at a meeting on Friday.
“A strong Europe is in the interest of all European countries, and Europe is the strongest when countries appreciate their common values, cooperate closely, and look for solutions to problems together,” Nestor said.
They also talked about relations with Russia, integrating Russian-speaking residents into society, and implementing the Civil Partnership Act.
Lunacek also met with the chairman of the Riigikogu’s European Union Affairs Committee, Kalle Palling (Reform). They discussed the migration crisis, the EU’s relations with Turkey, and the currently negotiated trade agreement with the USA.
