Foreign Minister Marina Kaljurand (independent) offered her condolences to the foreign ministers of Egypt and France in connection with the crash of Egypt Air Flight MS804 with 65 people on board.

"The news of the accident of the Egypt Air plane en route from Paris to Cairo affects all of us. My sincere condolences go out to the families of the people on board the plane, their friends, to everyone affected by this painful loss," Kaljurand said in her letter to Egypt's foreign minister Sameh Hassan Shoukry, and France's foreign minister Jean-Marc Ayrault.

Egypt Air Flight 804 disappeared from the radar at 2:45 a.m. local time on Thursday, when it was at an altitude of 37,000 feet. The Airbus A320 plane disappeared about 130 nautical miles off the Greek island of Karpathos.

The plane fell 22,000 feet and swerved sharply before it disappeared from radar screens, Greece's defense minister Panos Kammenos said on Thursday.

Experts and officials have said that while several scenarios could explain the mysterious crash, a terror attack is a distinct possibility.
