Study launched to map corruption and fraud risks in education
The Ministry of Justice and Tartu University’s Center for Applied Social Sciences (CASS) have signed an agreement on studying corruption and fraud risks in the Estonian educational system.
The objective of the study is to define the greatest risks of corruption in the Estonian state educational system, and to define possible solutions to work against them. The target groups are those who use services offered in the sector, such as students, parents, and so on, the leaders of educational institutions, and staff working in the sector.
The study is expected to show in which sectors the risks are the greatest, what the different occurrences of corruption are in this area, how often and to what end bribes are paid, where conflicts of interest come up, to what extent cronyism is a problem, and what the different roles of the workers in education are.
The project is financed by the European Union. Its results are expected in April 2017.
