Prime Minister to meet UN secretary general
Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas (Reform) will visit the United Nations headquarters in New York on Monday. Rõivas will speak to the UN’s Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and also meet with Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.
The Prime Minister will speak on the subject of innovation and e-services’ influence on the development of democracy and the economy, and share Estonia’s experience with information technology and modern communications.
Rõivas will also meet President of the United Nations General Assembly Mogens Lykketoft as well as UNICEF’s executive director, Anthony Lake.
Estonia is a candidate for the UN Security Council for 2020-21.
While in New York, the Prime Minister will also meet the Estonian honorary consul and visit the local office of money transfer service Transferwise.
Rõivas will be travelling with his partner, singer Luisa Värk.
