Riigikogu adopts amendments to Private Schools Act
The Riigikogu adopted changes to the Private Schools Act on Tuesday, according to which the state will continue to pay an operating subsidy to private schools until the end of 2019.
Private schools for students with special educational needs would be paid an operating subsidy until 2023, spokespeople for the parliament said.
The amendments were adopted with 61 votes against 27, with one abstention.
The operating subsidy to be paid to private schools until the end of 2019 amounts to 75% of the average operating subsidy paid to schools in the respective area, but no more than 87 euros per student per month.
The present arrangement will be kept up until the end of this year.
