As of Wednesday, 50 the 621 goals set out in the Action Program of the current three-party coalition government that took office after March 2015 elections had been fulfilled, and an additional 554 goals were either in the process of being fulfilled or had been partially fulfilled.

According to government spokespeople, there are 17 items in the current government’s Action Plan that do not require any action or additional action on the state level of government.

The current government made updates to the Action Plan on Thursday as well, which is reviewed once every year together with the government’s other strategic documents — the “Estonia 2020” competitiveness strategy, the country’s fiscal strategy as well as its stability program.

Government spokespeople highlighted the endorsement of the Administrative Reform Act and its passing on to the Riigikogu, raising defense spending to 2.07 percent of the GDP, and starting the construction of Estonia’s external border as the most important goals of the Action Program.

Other important goals included lowering of labor taxes, raising the tax exempt income level, raising average teachers’ wages, raising the allowance amount for families with three or more children as well as those living on wages below subsistence level, introducing an additional allowance for pensioners living alone, developing a child support scheme as well as cutting the number of central government employees and lowering administrative costs.

The current Estonian government is a majority government whose ruling coalition consists of three political parties: the Reform Party, Social Democratic Party (SDE), and Pro Patria and Res Publica Union (IRL).
