Ossinovski: Estonia’s EU presidency to also focus on alcohol policy (4)
Estonia would direct its attention to matters related to alcohol policy as well during its presidency of the Council of the European Union next year, Minister of Health and Labor Jevgeni Ossinovski (SDE) said on Saturday.
Ossinovski wrote on social media that at a meeting he had with the EU health commissioner Vytenis Andriukaitis in Brussels, the commissioner acknowledged Estonia’s plans to make its alcohol policy stricter.
“We agreed that within the framework of the presidency, Estonia would focus on several Europe-wide topics of alcohol policy, from online marketing to the labeling of alcohol,” the minister said.
Estonia has said that it will announce the priorities of its presidency beginning on July 1, 2017 shortly before it begins. The current list of priorities covers advancing the internal market, primarily the digital single market, and the EU’s neighborhood policy.
