Chairman of the European Union Affairs Committee of the Riigikogu MP Kalle Palling is embarking on a four-day visit to Central Europe today to meet with Austrian and Slovakian colleagues as well as attend the high-level GLOBSEC Bratislava Global Security Forum.

Palling will be spending Thursday in Austria, where he will be meeting with members of the EU Affairs Committee of the Austrian Parliament to discuss Europe's migration issues as well as sanctions against Russia.

The MP will then be spending Friday through Sunday in Slovakia. Palling is scheduled to meet with Chairman of the Committee on European Affairs of the National Council of the Slovak Republic Ľuboš Blaha, with whom he will be discussing the current migration situation and security in the EU as well as e-governance, among other topics. While in Bratislava, the Estonian MP will also be meeting with State Secretary of the Slovak Foreign and European Affairs Ministry and Plenipotentiary of the Government of the Slovak Republic for Presidency in the Council of the European Union Ivan Korčok, with whom he will be discussing preparations for the upcoming Slovakian presidency of the European Council, which will run from July to December of this year.

Over the weekend, Palling will be joining Slovakia’s President Andrej Kiska, Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, Bulgarian Rosen Plevneliev, and Macedonian President Gjorge Ivanov in attending the 11th annual GLOBSEC Bratislava Security Forum.

Panelists at the security forum this year will include former US Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright and former Prime Minister of Sweden Carl Bildt, as well as Polish-American journalist and Pulitzer Prize-winning author Anne Applebaum and British journalist and Senior Fellow and Contributing Editor at the Center for European Policy Analysis Edward Lucas.
