EKRE Extended Board to elect board chairman

The extended board of the opposition Conservative People's Party of Estonia will gather in Tallinn on Saturday to elect its chairman.

At the same meeting, Party Chairman Mart Helme will deliver a speech about the current political situation in Estonia and the extended board will adopt a political declaration, party spokespeople BNS.

The EKRE Extended Board consists of the party's honorary chairman, chairman and deputy chairs, MPs and members of the government if the party is part of the government, members of the extended board elected at the party congress as well as chapter and regional organization chairs

In accordance with EKRE statutes, the powers of the chairman of the extended board expire at the party congress where new members of the extended board are elected.

EKRE's current extended board was elected at the party's congress on June 12 this year.

Martin Helme, chairman of the EKRE Parliamentary Group, told BNS that the Extended Board is expected to elect incumbent Paul Puustusmaa to another term as chairman.
