Cost of home delivery of monthly pension payments to increase
Beginning in the new year, pensioners who wish to have their monthly pension payment delivered to them at home in cash will have to pay 6.6 euros for the service — an over one-euro increase on the current cost of 5.25 euros.
The monthly payout period for pension, support and benefits payments will be decreasing as well from the current 5th-15th to the 5th-12th of every month.
According to Margus Pärn, CFO of the Estonian National Social Insurance Board, the change will affect those receiving pension, support and benefits payments who have their money delivered to them at their own expense.
"These people have reduced in number year after year, as most of our clients have the money sent to their bank accounts," said Pärn. "There are approximately 6,000 people who have their money delivered to them."
Individuals with mobility impairments or who live in rural areas where access to banking services is difficult will continue to have their pension, support and benefit payments delivered to them for free.
The application for home delivery of these payments in cash can be found on the Estonian National Social Insurance Board's homepage.
