During the period following the economic crisis, income inequality has reached record high levels in Estonia and other OECD countries, the OECD’s 2016 report shows. While the incomes of the wealthy have quickly bounced back, the wages of the poor have yet to even return to pre-crisis levels, despite decreases in unemployment and increases in employment levels. Notable in Estonia's case, however, is just how large a proportion of the country's poor consists of pensioners.
