121 new cases of HIV diagnosed in 7 months in Estonia
According to Estonian Health Board statistics, as of July 29, a total of 121 new cases of HIV have been diagnosed in Estonia this year.
During the first seven months of 2016, 17 new cases of HIV were diagnosed in January, 16 in February, 25 in March, 11 in April, 26 in May, 17 in June and nine in July.
In 2015, a total of 270 new cases of HIV and 19 new cases of AIDS were diagnosed in Estonia. Since HIV testing began in Estonia in 1987, a total of 9,381 people have been diagnosed with HIV in Estonia, of which 477 have AIDS.
According to World Health Organization standards, the rate of infection in Estonia has reached levels qualifying as epidemic.
