Paet nominated for vice president of ALDE
The Reform Party has nominated MEP Urmas Paet as a candidate for vice president of the pan-European Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe Party (ALDE).
Reform Party Chairmain Taavi Rõivas, who nominated Paet for the position, noted that the MEP had broad-based experience in foreign and security policy as Estonia's longest-term Minister of Foreign Affairs in addition to his current experience as MEP.
"He has stood face to face with multiple European security crises, including 2008 in Georgia and 2014 in Ukraine, and successfully led Estonia's joining of the OECD [in 2010]," said Rõivas. "He is currently serving in the European Parliament as rapporteur on EU Defence Policy as well as on the Integrated EU policy for the Arctic."
The ALDE congress is scheduled to take part from Dec. 1-3 in Warsaw.
