Members of the Reform Party's Board of Directors, Parliamentary Group, Reform MPs, regional organization chairs and local government leaders met with party presidential candidate Siim Kallas on Saturday to discuss preparation for the upcoming electoral college vote slated for Sept. 24.

"Like we saw in the parliamentary rounds, election of the president in the electoral college requires cooperation among parties," Reform Party Secretary General Reimo Nebokat told Estonian daily Postimees.

According to Nebokat, the plan was to discuss both cross-party cooperation as well as other matters related to the presidential elections at the lunchtime meeting.

After three balloting rounds failed to elect a single candidate with at least 68 votes, the President of the Riigikogu Eiki Nestor called upon the electoral college to convene on Sept. 24 to elect Estonia's next president. The electoral college consists of all 101 members of the Riigikogu as well as 234 local government council representatives, the latter of whom must be chosen as electors by Sept. 17.

To date, 18 electors for this year's presidential elections have been named.
