New coalition to raise excise duty on natural gas
According to information available to ERR, the new coalition is planning to increase the excise duty on natural gas by 25% in 2018. At the moment, it stands at €40.52 per thousand cubic meters, the planned measure would raise this by €10.
Further increases are planned for 2019 and 2020, by 25% a year.
This will influence the price of natural gas, increasing it by about 3-5%. The measure will also affect district heating, the price of which per square meter of floor space is expected to increase as well.
The Center Party, the Social Democrats, and IRL, about to sign a new coalition agreement, made their economic policy plans public on Thursday evening. More detailed information is expected to be published on Friday.
