22 asylum-seekers will be relocated from the asylum-seeker accommodation center in Vao, a village in Lääne-Viru County to the recently renovated Vägeva Home in Jõgeva Parish, Jõgeva County.

The first families to be relocated to the accommodations at Vägeva Home will include three Armenian families, one Afghan family and one Iraqi family, reported regional Estonian daily Tartu Postimees.

There is a total of twelve children in these families, of which the youngest is three months and the oldest is ten years old. Six of these children are of school age and will begin attending school in Vaimastvere village, ten kilometers, or just over six miles, away.

According to Tiit Tsarski, real estate manager at AS Hoolekandeteenused, a state-owned enterprise focusing on providing social welfare services to those in need, each family will have its own room with refrigerator, however each kitchen is to be shared by three families, and there will be one shared children’s playroom and living room with television per section of the building.

The other half of the building is currently occupied by 17 persons with special needs who will, however, soon be moved themselves, leaving the entire building for the use of asylum applicants.
