Military officers from 13 countries as well as NATO visited the Estonian Defence Forces’ 2nd Infantry Brigade this week as part of a confidence-building measure under the Vienna document of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

The 25-strong group, which included officers from the armed forces of Sweden, Switzerland, and the Russian Federation in addition to member states of NATO, was offered an overview of the Estonian Defence Forces, the 2nd Infantry Brigade, the Kuperjanov Infantry Battalion and the NCO School of the National Defense College. They also familiarized with the EDF’s equipment as well as training opportunities.

Estonian officers have visited military sites in Belarus in their capacity as inspectors this year, and visits to Ukraine and Russia have been scheduled for later on in 2016. The purpose of the visits is to build confidence and increase the security among OSCE member states.
