A platoon-sized contingent of Slovenian troops arrived in Estonia this week in order to practice cooperation with Estonian soldiers as well as other allied units.

Lt. Janez Guznar, platoon commander of the Slovenian Armed Forces' 10th Infantry Regiment, was pleased that it was the unit under his command that was sent to train in Estonia.

"My men are used to operating on a mountainous terrain and therefore Estonia's flat and forested landscape offers previously unknown challenges, such as operating in an area of restricted visibility," spokespeople for the Headquarters of the Estonian Defense Forces quoted Guznar as saying.

The Slovenian platoon is stationed at the Tapa base of Estonia's 1st Infantry Brigade and will train in Estonia alongside troops from the US Army's 503rd Infantry Regiment of the 173rd Airborne Brigade who arrived in Estonia at the beginning of the week.

The Slovenian soldiers will remain in Estonia until the end of the year.
