Births in February: Over 100 more than last year (1)

The Estonian Vital Statistics Office registered a total of 1,114 in the month of February, of which 520 were girls and 594 were boys.

18 sets of twins were registered, of which five sets were twin boys, six were twin girls, and seven were boy-girl pairs.

422 births were registered in the city of Tallinn, 159 in Harju County, 130 in Tartu County, 98 in Ida-Viru County, 58 in Pärnu County, 44 in Lääne-Viru County, 30 in Võru County, 29 in Saaremaa, 25 in Rapla County, 24 in Viljandi County, 23 in Järva County, 18 in Põlva County, 19 in Lääne County, 16 in Valga County, 15 in Jõgeva County, and just four in Hiiu County.

Among February births this year, the most popular girl’s names were Sofia (9), Aleksandra, Alisa, Annabel, Elisabeth, Emily, Kertu, Isabella, and Marleen (5); the most popular boy’s names were Robert (10), Henri, Sebastian (9), Oskar, and Robin (8).

This February saw an increase of over 100 births compared to the same period last year, during which 1,029 births were registered in Estonia.
