Mart Opmann, a former minister of finance in the 1990s, was charged over actions leading to the bankruptcy of a company.

The charges were brought by the Northern Police Prefecture against Opmann, 57, and another individual, Jürgen Vester, 47. They included abuse of shareholder trust, embezzlement and accounting violations.

Opmann was an executive at the now bankrupt AS Premium Motors Grupp, and Vester was supervisory board chairman. They are accused of causing several million euros in losses.

Opmann, a minister in the second and third governments of Tiit Vähi as well as in Mart Siimann's cabinet, will face a preliminary hearing tomorrow.
