The Estonian government has approved an act that will replace Estonian aviation laws with EU regulations. The new rules will take effect on December 4.

The Estonian Civil Aviation Administration will become the responsible supervisory body and this will eliminate the need for changing the legislation for each new EU initiative.

Two standards set out in the annexes of international civil aviation conventions will be adopted in the new act. Some aspects of aviation security amended in accordance with the EU legislative framework.

"This will regulate the rules by which the agreed vendor of the in-flight supplies, their known supplier, their agreed representative and the security instructor are recognized. A new field to be regulated by the law is the duty to have the developer of aviation procedures certified," said the government's press office in a prepared statement.

For safety purposes, the Estonian Civil Aviation Administration will also start monitoring the implementation of regulations regarding skydiving.
