As if the Reform Party politicans have not learned from the mistakes of their former finance minister Jürgen Ligi's public Facebook spat with Education Minister Jevgeni Ossinovski couple of weeks ago, Igor Gräzin, a member of Reform Party faction in the Parliament, has publicly called his own colleague at the party, former Foreign Minister Urmas Paet, a "scum".

"Briefly. Paet is the usual scum from Tartu. Beating him up would be a philosophical idea, but a legal problem. We get on otherwise. (New environmental minister Mati) Raidma is a minister, Paet a European, and me ... I think that the Reform Party's desire for me to die is not without basis," Gräzin wrote on his Facebook account on Wednesday evening.

The comment was in relation to Paet's last-minute reversal, deciding to take Andrus Ansip's open seat at the European Parliament. Had Paet rejected Ansip's seat, with Ansip becoming a EU commissioner, Gräzin would have been next on the list.

Paet initially rejected the seat, and as of last weekend, Gräzin was considered the logical choice to become a MEP. But Paet changed his mind on Monday, just before the deadline for notifying the Estonia's Electoral Commision.

Paet gained the third-most votes (8,655) for the Reform Party at the EP elections earlier in the year. Gräzin was fourth with 975 votes.

Gräzin has been the member of the Parliament between 1995-99 and again from 2005 onwards. He was also a member of the Soviet Union's parliamentary body, the Supreme Soviet, from 1989-91.
