Rasmussen to Visit Estonia This Week
Secretary General of NATO Anders Fogh Rasmussen will visit Estonia this week to discuss international security with Estonian leaders.
Rasmussen will be in the country Thursday and Friday, and the visit will focus on the changed security situation in Europe, uudised.err.ee reported on Saturday.
According to Foreign Minister Urmas Paet, Rasmussen’s visit is very significant. “It is an assurance of NATO’s commitment to ensuring the security of its members and the close co-operation of Estonia and our NATO allies,” he said.
Rasmussen will meet with Paet on Thursday and he also plans to meet President Toomas Hendrik Ilves and Prime Minister Taavi Rõivas.
On Friday, the Secretary General will give a public lecture at Tallinn University and visit the Ämari air base.
