Terrorism, ISIS the greatest threats to Estonia, says Savisaar
Currently, the greatest threat Estonia is facing is the Islamic State (ISIS), not Russia, re-elected Center Party Chairman Edgar Savisaar told Finnish newspaper Helsingin Sanomat.
“Danger number one is terrorism, ISIS,” Savisaar said, in an interview with the daily.
“For example, security measures at the Nobel prize ceremony in Stockholm were stricter than before. Do you think this is due to the Russian danger?” He said.
Speaking about Crimea, on which Savisaar has remained distant, he said he has never been to the now-annexed peninsular. “The question of whether they want to be part of Ukraine or Russia is one to those who live in Crimea. It is a question of self-determination,” Savisaar added.
He said anti-Russian sanctions are hurting Estonia, adding that he believes they will soon be dropped. “It would be good for Estonia if the sanctions did not exist. A large part of our exports head east,” Savisaar added.
