Alexander Lukashevich, a spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, said British Defense Secretary Michael Fallon's comments that there is a real danger to the Baltic states from Russia, crossed lines of diplomatic ethics.

Fallon said this week that there is a real and present danger that Russian President Vladimir Putin will launch a campaign of undercover attacks to destabilize the Baltic states, in an interview with the Daily Telegraph.

Lukashevich said the statement by Fallon is unacceptable and comparable to US President Barack Obama's speech where he named Russia as one of the three greatest challenges to the United States.

He said NATO, not Russia, is responsible for the high tensions in the Euro-Atlantic region.
