Center Party rating drops by 8 points
The Center Party is still Estonia's most popular party, according to the monthly Turu-uuringute poll, but it saw its lead of 33 percent to Reform Party's 17 percent in November cut to just 25 percent and 20 percent respectively.
The party held a congress at the end of the month, holding internal elections where Edgar Savisaar, chairman from the party's founding in the early 90s, minus a few months in the mid-90s, beat Kadri Simson by a small margin to retain his position.
The internal election was very much in the public eye with both Savisaar and Simson camps vocal.
The poll showed support for the Center Party among ethnic Estonians dropped by a third to 13 percent while its hold on ethnic Russians also dropped, but remains high at 79 percent.
The ruling Reform Party managed to increase its share from 17 to 20 percent while the Social Democrats also saw a increase, from 13 to 14 percent.
The Free Party, which won nearly 9 percent of the vote at the March 1 national election, continued to increase its support, from 11 percent in November to 13 percent now. EKRE's support grew from 9 to 10 percent while IRL continued its decline, from 8 to just 7 percent.
Turu-uuringute AS polled 1,001 persons on behalf of ERR. The poll asked who a person would vote for, if national elections would be held today.
