Tsäkko Convicted of Public Procurement Violation (1)
Harju County Court today handed a four-month conditional sentence to the former head of the Road Administration, Tamur Tsäkko, for violating public procurement law and for breach of trust.
According to the indictment, Tsäkko, who pled not guilty, allowed a contractor to build a one-lane road with a garden bed on the shoulder, instead of the required two-lane road. The road, connecting the towns of Loo and Maardu, cost taxpayers an additional 33,668 euros, reported uudised.err.ee.
Tsäkko made the headlines earlier this year in an unrelated incident in which he and other executives were fired when auditors found that they had used public funds to turn an official dispatch into a skiing vacation in France.
