Prosecutor Dismisses Funds Abuse Charges Against IRL and Reform Party
The state prosecutor decided not to launch a criminal investigation into the alleged use of public money in the election campaigns of IRL and the Reform Party, as claimed by the Center Party.
The state prosecutor decided not to launch an investigation, telling uudised.err.ee that considering the circumstances of the report and the available materials, there are no legal grounds for launching an investigation.
The Center Party’s Secretary General Priit Toobal and member of the Political Party Funding Oversight Committee Siret Kotka, a Center Party member, submitted a report of criminal offense to the Prosecutor's Office outlining nine alleged cases of political advertising paid for with public money.
These included the Integration and Migration Foundation Our People (MISA) project of short films, materials for the adoption of the euro, and the newspaper of the Homeowners’ Association merited several mentions.
The state prosecutor last week launched an investigation into alleged abused by several high-ranking Center Party officials, including Tallinn Mayor Edgar Savisaar.
