Social tax cut won't lead to health cuts, says new minister
New Health and Labor Minister Rannar Vassiljev said the proposed one percentage point cut in social tax will not mean less funding for the healthcare system as the average salary will increase - as will the employment rate.
He said the coalition agreed that no money will go out of the healthcare system.
“The sum is around 80 million euros in 2016 and will grow by 10 million by 2019, taking into account the current forecasts,” Vassiljev said, commenting on the figures the tax cut will cost the state budget.
One way to save running costs is to use more online solutions, such as e-referrals to specialists. Vassiljev said the coalition agreement has room for resources to boost efficiency in the system.
