EU Should Institute Economic Sanctions Against Russia, Says Ansip
Outgoing Estonian PM Andrus Ansip said the European Council should send a message to the Russian leadership that occupying other countries by force has a high price.
Speaking at a meeting of four of Ansip's EU counterparts and the President of Lithuania, Ansip said the European Commission should prepare a third wave of sanctions, after halting trade and visa talks and announcing sanctions against Russian and Crimea officials, uudised.err.ee reported on Thursday.
Ansip said he welcomes the additional one billion euro aid to Ukraine, adding that signing an association agreement between the union and Ukraine and dropping visa requirements should also be pushed through.
