IRL MP Marko Mihkelson will continue as the chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, despite the fact that his party was booted out of the government at the end of March.

Kristen Michal, head of the ruling Reform Party faction in Parliament, told uudised.err.ee on Wednesday that the heads of parliamentary committees are usually coalition members, as they are tasked with initiating government policies, but the Foreign Affairs Committee was left untouched by the government switch to keep balance.

The deputy chair of the committee is a Center Party MP, also an opposition party, while the head and deputy of the European Union Affairs Committee are from the two coalition parties - the Reform Party and the Social Democrats.

There are 11 permanent committees in Parliament, with the rest divided up equally between the Reform Party (EU Affairs, Cultural Affairs, Economic Affairs, Constitutional Committee and National Defense) and the Social Democrats (Environment, Rural Affairs, Finance, Social Affairs and Legal Affairs).
