EU Commissioner Siim Kallas said he will not rule out returning to Estonian politics, and leading the Reform Party, when his term ends in Brussels during the second half of 2014.

Speaking on ERR radio on Monday, Kallas said the party has a leader and the nation has a (Reform Party) Prime Minister, and currently there is no vacancy.

Kallas recently said he will not run for the European Parliament, as he does not want to compete against his daughter, Kaja Kallas, who is in the mix for a position, and would like to return home.

The coalition is yet to agree on the name of the next Estonian commissioner, but the media has speculated that the current Reform Party chairman and Estonian prime minister, Andrus Ansip, could be that person.

Junior coalition partner IRL is likely to push for its own candidate, citing a rotation policy between the two parties.
