The government's funding for the various projects and events to be organized as part of the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia will amount to €24m, a look at the budget endorsed by the government committee in charge of the EV100 events showed on Thursday.

The total size of the budget for the whole duration of the anniversary program is €24m. Of this money, about one-third, or €9.2m, will be spent on audiovisual arts, €3.2m on showcasing Estonia abroad, and €2.6m on events for children and young people.

The program of EV100 will run from April 2017 to February 2020.

April 2017 will see the 100th anniversary of the Autonomous National Governorate of Estonians within the Russian Empire. The fusion of the Governorate of Estonia with the Estonian-populated northern counties of the Governorate of Livonia defined the Estonian map largely as we know it today.

While the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia will be celebrated on 24 February 2018, many of the country's institutions, such as ministries, Kaitseliit (the Defence League), and others, will celebrate their centenary in November 2018. In 2019, one hundred years will have passed since the War of Independence, and the anniversary program will conclude in February 2020 with events to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Treaty of Tartu.
