Mikser to IRL bolt: 'It’s damn hard to rule with a party that isn’t led by anyone'
MP Sven Mikser (SDE, Social Democrats) suggested earlier that the coalition parties’ agreement to break the stalemate in the Cohabitation Act debate never had any real meaning.
According to Mikser, a compromise regarding the implementing provisions of the new gender-neutral Cohabitation Act has failed because of the parliamentary party of IRL (Pro Patria and Res Publica Union).
“Yesterday morning an agreement to break the stalemate was made between the parliamentary party chairmen of the three coalition parties. It was a compromise which needed all sides to make painful concessions,” Mikser wrote on social media this afternoon.
“This morning it became clear that the IRL chairman had neither a mandate nor the strength to get his parliamentary party in line. To make the long story short, the party did not agree with the chairman and said that there was no deal,” Mikser said.
He went on to call the whole matter “sad” and added that it was “damn hard to rule with a party that isn’t led by anyone.”
