Liisa Pakosta, Tiit Riisalo and Yoko Alender from IRL, all members of the administrative council of the Põhja-Tallinn (North Tallinn) district, have asked the Central Criminal Police to investigate the activities of the district government's staff for possible corruption.

According to e-mails obtained by the daily Eesti Päevaleht, the staff used the city’s resources to help housing associations organize anti-government demonstrations, uudised.err.ee reported.

The Põhja-Tallinn district government has reportedly used public money to pay bills linked to the demonstrations.

According to Pakosta, who is also a member of the Parliamentary Anti-Corruption Select Committee, the activities of the staff have clear elements of abusing public office and corrupt use of public resources.

The spokesman of the CCP Kaarel Kuusk told uudised.err.ee that they’ve received the complaint and according to the misdemeanor procedure now have 15 days to decide if they’ll pursue the matter.
