2,000 soldiers begin military maneuvers
The Tornado military games began today, on Monday, in Harju County with 2,000 conscripts, professionals, reserve soldiers and allied troops taking part.
Participants will practice moving from the city to rural areas on a brigade level.
“The primary aim of the maneuvers is to practice conventional warfare and increase our readiness,” Lieutenant Colonel Aron Kalmus said.
Soldiers will use the MILES (Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System) detection system, which shows who has been hit by the enemy.
The games are an introduction to the much larger Siil (hedgehog) training exercise at the beginning of May, where between 12,000-13,000 soldiers will take part.
