PR specialist and political analyst Ott Lumi and Aivar Hundimägi from Äripäev said the Social Democrats and IRL would prefer a three-way coalition, while the Reform Party supports the currently negotiated four-party format, as it would allow it to implement its long-term policies.

Hundimägi told ETV's morning program in a joint interview with Lumi that talks have reached the half-way mark.”It will be clear by the end of March or the first week of April if it will be a four strong or three strong coalition and with which members,” he said.

Lumi added that the Free Party has become anxious and so far the talks have been conducted in a peaceful manner, but the Reform Party is capable of putting certain partners in their places.

The Reform Party is likely to continue on its current path in the talks, Lumi said.

Hundimägi said the talks have dragged on as the new coalition wants to bring about great changes. “The question is whether they can achieve that. It seems to me that the key issue is that IRL and the Social Democrats do not want a quadruple union, but the Reform Party does.”

The Reform Party wants a large majority in the Parliament to implement its policies in the long term.
