As coalition talks between the Reform Party and the Social Democrats are nearing completion, daily Postimees is reporting that a new ministry could be created to deal with transport and communications, currently under Economic Affairs Ministry jurisdiction.

The new ministry would be responsible for an increasing nationalized transport sphere, as inter-island ferries could be taken over by the state, following the privatization of passenger rail services at the beginning of 2014.

The two parties are set to reveal which party will lead which ministry later today, with names of candidates following a few days later.

Estonia had a Transport and Communication Ministry until November 2002, when it was merged into the Economic Affairs Ministry (technically the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communication).
