Citizens Abroad Seize Opportunity to Cast Votes Online
As 96 percent of the 140,846 people who voted in the parliamentary elections electronically did it at home, the opportunity was also seized by 5,795 Estonians located in 106 countries around the world.
The five leading countries for e-voting activity were Finland (1,541), followed by Great Britain (472), Sweden (438), Germany (337) and the United States (305), according to Postimees.
Electronic votes also arrived from Hong-Kong, Puerto Rico, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Trinidad and Tobago, and other remote territories.
Participation in e-voting required possession of an ID card and a card reader on a computer, or of a mobile ID application for smartphones, and software downloaded from the Electoral Committee website.
