Estonian citizens can visit 157 countries without a visa
According to the Henley and Partner's Visa Restrictions Index, Estonia ranks joint 14th for travel freedom. Those with an Estonian passport or ID-card in their back pocket can travel to 157 countries all around the world without having to obtain a visa.
Henley and Partners, residence and citizenship consultants, have put together a Visa Restrictions Index, which ranks countries globally in accordance to the travel freedom their inhabitants enjoy.
Joint first in the index with visa free access to 174 countries are Finland, Germany, Sweden, the US and the UK, followed by Canada and Denmark in joint second with just one country less.
On the other end we find Afghanistan (28), Iraq (31), Pakistan and Somalia (32), and Palestine (35).
Estonia shares its 14th position with Cyprus, Lithuania and Poland, being just one step behind close neighbor Latvia (158).
However, Estonia is unlikely to catch up with the leaders as all visa waivers are decided by the European Commission, on behalf of all EU member states. Although foreign states can allow Estonian citizens to enter without a visa, Estonia is not in the position to reciprocate.
