Tüür: Kiev Turning Into an Uprising
Some Ukrainian state forces have already changed sides and the riots are turning into a full-on uprising, says University of Tartu political scientist Karmo Tüür.
Tüür told Delfi on Wednesday that if the Independence Square (Maidan) is cleared of protestors, which technically is not very complicated, a partisan conflict could break out.
The most Europe can do is to ban those orchestrating state violence and confiscate any assets they have in Europe until the situation has calmed down, or even until those guilty have been sentenced, Tüür said.
Estonia's ambassador to the EU, Harri Tiido, said that Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych might not be running the show.
He said that the EU must pressure Yanukovych nevertheless.
