A C-17 transport landed at the Ämari airbase on Sunday, carrying the last three Estonian soldiers who were stationed in the Helmand province of Afghanistan.

The men were part of a logistics team tasked with preparing equipment used by Estonian forces for transport back.

Estonian troops served in the Helmand province, the most violent area of Afghanistan, starting in 2006. The last company arrived back in May.

A total of 1,014 tons of equipment was sent back to Estonia in 2013 and 2014, including 25 armored personnel carriers, armored trucks and 14 containers full of other equipment.
