The Estonian Road Administration, in cooperation with Police and Border Guard Board, has started testing new mobile speed cameras, with an aim to make Estonian roads safer in the future.

Mobile cameras offer an alternative to traffic police and stationary cameras. Their great advantage is that they can be easily moved between areas where drivers tend to speed the most but where conditions make it difficult to measure speed or stop cars.

The cameras can be mounted on tripods or in stationary cars. That makes them very easy to relocate.

Current locations will be marked with road signs.

The cameras' suitability to Estonian conditions will be tested over a two-week period.
