Estonia, UK Establish Procurements Agreement for Defense Resources
Ministrer of Defense Jaak Aaviksoo and his counterpart from the UK, Minister of State for the Armed Forces Nick Harvey, signed a defense agreement in Tallinn on December 15, which seeks for cooperative public procurements in the future for attaining weaponry and military equipment.
The contract provides that Estonian and British officials regularly share procurements information, and strives to cut costs for the two countries.
The Ministry of Defense has similar contracts in place with Sweden and Germany.
At their meeting, the two defense ministers discussed the high-level Lisbon conference, Afghanistan and policing of the Baltic airspace. Harvey commended Estonia for its contribution to the war in Afghanistan.
