Today the Estonian election coalition umbrella organization Eesti Valimisliitude Vabakond announced that it has signed cooperation agreements with the Green Party, People's Conservative Party (EKRE) and the Free Party to run for the Parliament in their election lists without having to become party members.

As the law stands, election coalitions are not allowed in the general elections.

"With this agreement the parties declare their willingness to cooperate and stand for the balanced regional development in Estonia. Decent living conditions must be ensured in all corners of Estonia," said Mart Järvik of Vabakond.

Imre Mürk, a member of the Tartu City Council, added that the parliamentary parties have not made an effort to ensure that there is a balance between the centralized decision-making powers and the local governments.

The organization aims to encourage enterprise, foster the creation of new jobs in small towns and rural areas, and push through administrative reform.

However, Priit Kärsna, one of the founding members of the Vabakond, said that the union is completely unaware of the content of the agreements and Imre Mürk has overstepped his authority. Kärsna said that he learned of the agreement from today's news.

"At the same time, it turned out that Mürk had replaced the information on our website, changing the contact details and names that were displayed on our landing page," Kärsna said.

"Free election coalitions union is a free union, meaning that our members can run in the list of their choosing. However, we do expect our members and supporters to be committed to our manifesto. It is unacceptable that the stance of a few individuals has been mistaken for those of a union, as has been the case," he said.

The organization aims to encourage enterprise, foster the creation of new jobs in small towns and rural areas, and push through administrative reform.
