Baltic PMs Warm Relations on Sunny Saaremaa (5)
Having together marked the anniversary of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact on Friday, the three Baltic prime ministers and their spouses spent the weekend on Saaremaa, a popular holiday destination.
The Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian prime ministers have made a tradition of meeting each summer vacation, ETV reported.
"The circle of issues is very broad, but agreements are not signed at these kinds of meetings. Foremost, these kinds of unofficial meetings are necessary to improve relations between people,“ Estonian Prime Minister Andrus Ansip said.
"We are working very closely together on a number of issues and especially we are coordinating closely our EU policies since we all three are small countries,“ Latvian Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis said.
The topics of conversation included Lithuania's planned LNG terminal and the Rail Baltic project.
"Talking about LNG terminal in Klaipėda, we are going to complete this terminal in December 2014. Now we have signed all four contracts and I think this terminal will start to work on time,“ said Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius.
